About the ATSU
AIIMS Technical Support Unit (ATSU)
AIIMS Technical Support Unit (ATSU) is located in the Centre for Community Medicine, AIIMS, New Delhi. It consists of a core team of seven faculty members who are supported by research staff including a Scientist D, two Information Technology(IT) experts .
Role of ATSU is to provide technical assistance to RGI’s Office in conduct of the verbal autopsy based cause of death ascertainment under the Sample Registration System. This includes identification and liaison with institutions and individuals for physician coding of death, management of the web-based software for routing of VA forms to physicians, preparation and revision of training manuals for different staff involved in the exercise including those for physicians and to undertake training of these personnel.
ATSU provides technical inputs on tools and processes used in this exercise from time to time and undertake quality control activities for field work as well as in physician coding.
Role of AIIMS Technical Support Unit (ATSU)
The overall role of AIIMS Technical Support Unit (ATSU) is to provide any kind of technical assistance to RGI’s Office in conduct of the Verbal Autopsy base Cause of Death Ascertainment under the Sample Registration System. This includes:
- Identify and liaise with Institutions and individuals for physician coding of death based on the verbal autopsy carried out by SRS staff.
- Manage the web-based software for routing of VA forms to physicians
- Prepare/Revise training manuals for different staff involved in the exercise including those for physicians and undertake training of these personnel.
- Provide technical inputs on tools and processes used in this exercise from time to time.
- Undertake quality control activities for field work as well as in physician coding.
- Provide assistance for data analyses and report writing
- Review and verify all reports, publications and other dissemination materials
- Hold meetings on technical issues as and when required
